Are you looking to get rid of the pesky mould within your home?
If you’ve found mould within the nooks and crannies of your home, you’re certainly not alone. In fact, studies have found that more than 50 percent of American homes are considered to have a mould problem.
Fortunately, cleaning mould doesn’t have to be so intimidating. If you’re looking to tackle the mould in your home, you’ve come to the right place. We’re sharing four simple and green methods for cleaning mould in your home.
1. White Distilled Vinegar
We all have white vinegar laying around the house.
Fortunately, this acid is extremely productive in killing mould. To start, fill a spray bottle with 100 percent white distilled vinegar. Be sure to not to combine the vinegar with any water.
Spray the vinegar onto the mouldy surface and allow it to soak for one hour. Next, you can wipe the area clean with a wet rag and watch the mould disappear.
2. Baking Soda
Combined with white vinegar, using baking soda to remove mould is significantly effective.
With this, you can simply dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of vinegar. Next, pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray it on the affected surfaces.
Allow it to sit for ten minutes and then remove the solution with a damp cloth. Fortunately, the baking soda minimizes the smell of the vinegar and, within a few minutes, there should be nearly zero smell remaining.
3. Hydrogen Peroxide
In short, mould is a fungus.
This is why using hydrogen peroxide to eliminate mould is so helpful. It’s an anti-fungal solution that just so happens to be extremely effective in killing mould.
To start, pour hydrogen peroxide into a small spray bottle. Spray the solution on the mould and allow it to sit for approximately ten minutes. After sitting, scrub the solution with an abrasive pad and flush with water to finish.
4. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil can be used for anything from combating acne and bug repellent to a natural hand sanitizer and even mouthwash.
As it turns out, tea tree oil is also effective in removing harsh instances of mould.
To start, combine two tablespoons of tea tree oil with two cups of water. Transfer this mix into a spray bottle and spray onto the areas with mould. Next, don’t rinse the area and allow the solution to eliminate the mould over the next few days.
Cleaning Mould the Green Way
Let’s face it, cleaning mould isn’t always easy.
In fact, scientists have found that there are over 300,000 different types of mould.
But, this doesn’t always mean that you have to use harsh and unfriendly cleaners to rid of such mould. The good news is that simple and green products can be used for effectively cleaning mould.
Be it white vinegar or tea tree oil, be sure to try your hand at these solutions before moving onto your chemical-heavy counterparts.
